So... it has been ages since I have updated (well, not counting the inauguration thing — and I just discovered that facebook quit importing my posts for some reason, which means that it really has been ages since I posted a note on there).  I guess I will just tell you about some stuff that has been happening in my life...

I will start with the obligatory how-is-work, I guess... work is fine, not much different than usual I suppose.  My boss might get transferred, which would mean I would have to do a lot of the stuff that he does right now.  That would sort of stink, but I guess I can deal with that if and when it happens.

I wrecked my truck a week and a half ago — don’t ask!  Fortunately, it’s in drivable condition (well, now it is... right after I wrecked it, not very much).  Oh, and I also need to renew the license, which means I need to get it inspected, which means I need to get it fixed.  Pretty much this week.  (Thanks, dad, for telling me that two days after I wrecked it.)  Yay.  I bought the parts for it earlier this week... which cost me $700...

Other than that, well, I can’t really think of much interesting going on in my life at the moment...

Tomorrow is Saturday.  That’s always nice...  I’ll be working on my truck, though.  That won’t be so nice...

Well, I caught the tail end of the inauguration during lunch yesterday.  Let’s just say I had a few observations...

(I think I might butcher a few sacred cows with this post... or desecrate them, at the least.  However, as I don’t think I know too terribly many Obama fans – nor Hindus – most of you probably won’t be offended.  If you are offended, grow a sense of humour.)

“The Big O”:  Does anybody else think it’s amusing that he pulled his Southern Baptist Preacher’s voice out for this speech?  When I first switched the radio on, I thought for a minute that I was listening to a Rush Limbaugh parody.  No — it was the man himself, and he was really talking like that.

“The Poet from Yale”:  I am convinced that they found this woman solely to contrast her speaking ability to that of the Messiah.  Reading prose in a halting, sing-song voice does not make it into poetry.  (It might have even been passable prose if its reading had been somewhat less awful.)

“The Preacher”:  Well, they already had one Southern Baptist Preacher speak, so I guess they had to go with something different for the prayer.  However, I really think they went a bit too far.  I can’t remember a single word he uttered, because the whole time he was talking I heard in my head, “Mawwage... Mawwage ith wath bwingth uth togethuth tewdai”.  It was all I could do to keep from laughing, and you just don’t laugh during prayers...
